Livelihoods spill over into lives until our timesheets laugh at the idea of office hours. But some folks make it work. They take the skills, tools and time they have, create something extraordinary and invite the rest of us along for the ride. We call them No-Fuss Folks.

John Pahlas comes from a long line of artists, artisans and makers. Thankfully for all of us John heeded that same call. As a largely self-taught metalworker, John exclusively uses salvaged scrap metal to create one of a kind sculptures inspired by nature, anatomy and mythology. John co-owns Center Ground Studios alongside his wife Heidi, a potter and educator. Together they build art, community and connections throughout Wisconsin’s Driftless Region and beyond.
